Another first for Kelsey Gardens

This morning the 108th species of bird to be recorded at Kelsey Gardens made an appearance. Hot on the heels of last week's Waxwings, three Short-Eared Owls were seen along Keyingham Drain.  The new Wind Turbines at Roos can be seen in the following photos.

Kelsey Gardens welcomes new visitors

Seven Waxwings paid a visit to Kelsey Gardens today.  There are thousands of these beautiful birds all over the country including more than 600 in Hull a couple of weeks ago, but as far as I am aware this is the first recording at Kelsey Gardens.  They come in their thousands from Scandinavia, but only in bad winters, so they are not seen every year.

Remembrance Sunday

This Sunday is Rembrance Day and at Kelsey Gardens we will be remembering those who have died in the various wars around the world by holding two minutes silence at 11 o'clock.

This will be followed in the afternoon by a display by Hull Model Boat Club.

Lest we forget.

Halloween Night Sail

High winds and frequent showers during the day gave way for a beautiful moonlit night with a cloudless sky for this evenings Halloween Night Sail at Kelsey Gardens. Members of the Hull Model Boat club and Kelsey Paddlers were out in force with lights on their boats. There were competitions for the kids and a barbecue for the hungry.
Here are a selection of photos taken during the evening which cannot do justice to the spectacle of twinkling lights in the night.

Kelsey Paddlers Open Day

Kelsey Paddlers held an open day today for anyone who would like to try canoeing and kayaking and join the newly created club. They were joined and assisted by Kingston Kayak Club and the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.  The event was very successful with a lot of people in attendance and everyone seemed to be having a good time.  Here are some photos taken at the event.
